Man-made objects in nature. Most of the time I don’t like them and I would go out of my way to exclude these objects from the shot. But sometimes they tell the story better than any other shot without them could ever do. How do you show endurance, persistence and strength throughout time in one image? A pier is a very good subject to do this. It stands out in nature, subject to all the elements and stands its ground through the years.

This image is a bit of my personal inspirational poster because not only does it show all the attributes I mentioned before, it also blends very beautifully in with its natural surrounds. There is beauty in the juxta-position of the man-made object and nature and this strengthens my believe that we can actually be at harmony with nature, it might take some time and perseverance however.
