Description
Photographing well known landmarks is a tricky thing. They have been photographed a lot before from what seems every possible angle. The pier at Blankenberge is not the Eiffel tower but still in Belgium it is quite well known and some very famous photographers have made their interpretations of it.
I went out in the evening to go and make my own interpretation. The sunset was not very colorful and so I waited for my favourite time of day, the blue-hour. The moment after the sunset when most sunset colors have disappeared but before the black of night sets in. I love this time and as it turned out, the pier actually liked it too. The colors of the pier’s lights came out much then they had done in the sunset and the structure looked bigger and more menacing in the blue light of the late evening sky.
It’s my interpretation of a landmark and I made it mine simply by shooting it at my favourite time of day.
