Description
Bad weather makes for some of the best photographs.
We had stopped for the night in Lake Superior Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada after a long day of driving. Tomorrow would be another driving day and bad weather was chasing us down. The shores of Lake Superior were deserted and because we were tired we decide not to pitch the tent, but instead to sleep in the car. As we were settling in for the night, a strange glow reflected in the car window. A reddish color that I couldn’t immediately place. As I turned around I saw the clouds had broken up and over Lake Superior the sky seemed on fire.
I have never gotten out of bed so quickly and before I knew it was photographing one of the most dramatic sunsets I had seen in a long time. Standing there on the deserted beach on Lake Superior I was actually thanking the bad weather for once.
