Description

It was getting dark and it was clear that the bad weather we had had for days was starting to roll in again, so we stopped our search for the Grasslands bison herd.  We had gone out to check out the park and find the bison in the meantime.  The clay roads were slippery and every small hill was a challenge to our 4×4.

We were almost out of the park when in the distance we spotted the first bison, quickly followed by the rest of the herd. They were coming straight toward us.  I grabbed the camera and prepared myself to get out of the car.  I was welcomed by a million mosquitos that were waiting for me just outside the car.  I snapped some shots and got back in the car.  This wasn’t going to be day for great photographs.  We drove a bit further and actually crossed paths with the bison on the road.  Slowly we made our way back out of the park until I spotted this lonesome bison making his way slowly across the prairie.  Behind him the clouds packed together to give us a rough night, but the sight of this bison made me suck it in and get out of the car one more time.  It was worth it.
